Meta launches ‘Creators of Tomorrow’ campaign celebrating emerging talents from across Sub-Saharan Africa

Meta has announced the start of ‘Creators of Tomorrow,’ a new initiative that recognises young talents from across the world who are driving a new wave of creative material on the internet.

The campaign highlights Sub-Saharan African innovators from East Africa, Southern Africa, and Francophone Africa.

The chosen Creators of Tomorrow are making waves in their online communities and demonstrating a best-in-class approach to video formats, technology, and interactive entertainment.

The global campaign is the first of its type, kicking off in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa before moving to other parts of the world in the coming months.

Over the next year, Meta will work closely with these creators to help them increase their audiences and turn their interests into careers using Meta technologies.

Moon Baz, Creator Partnerships Lead, Middle East, Africa, and Turkey, Meta, stated of the campaign,

“We want to spotlight creators experimenting with tools like Reels and short-form video content formats, as well as those using and exploring new content formats like AR/VR. We are pleased to collaborate closely with these creators. We are committed to assisting them in expanding their audience, establishing a company, and unlocking new possibilities for the future as we build for the metaverse.”

African innovators have embraced Meta technologies and applications, such as Facebook and Instagram, to express themselves and share the African story with Africans and others all around the world.

Using fashion, travel, comedy, food,  and political commentary, Sub-Saharan African producers, have improved the world’s perspective of the continent’s cultural contribution over the years.

Meta will organise unique events across the region to honour the Creators of Tomorrow, presenting the most recent news, insights, tools, and resources from Meta technologies.

In Kenya, Creators, including those featured in the campaign, will attend an exclusive brunch that will include a Reels School, while in South Africa, over 50 Creators will attend a Creator Day that will include specialised courses and training to assist them in thriving in this growing creator economy and digital.

Meta’s ten recognised Creators of Tomorrow include:

  • Kenyan radio broadcaster Kwambox entertains her listeners with her dance moves and bright demeanour. She’s also a well-known MC and event host.
  • Crazy Kennar, Kenya: An award-winning Nairobi-based comedian whose output is centred on comedy addressing young people’s everyday lives.
  • Nadia Matovu, Uganda: A Kampala-based influencer, wife, and businesswoman who utilises her daily life to encourage her fans.
  • South African multimedia entrepreneur Pamela Mtanga . She is a fashion and beauty content creator whose brand is built on honesty, relatability, and empowerment.
  • Ruth Ronnie is a Zambian recording artist, live performer, and content developer. She is a multifaceted artist best recognised for her musical genres dancehall, reggae, afro-pop, RnB, afro soul, and trap soul.
  • Zimbabwean actor and content creator Ruvarashe Hapaguti . Her content ranges from funny sketches to make-up instructions, which she presents appealingly to her audience.
  • Mishaa , Ivory Coast: A dance enthusiast who promotes her passion for dance art and performances with her social media fans. Mishaa, an ambassador for Trace Music and Universal Music Africa, dances on African urban rhythms such as coupé-décalé, afro-beat, R’N’B, and many others. She also promotes her choreographies in Reels on Instagram and Facebook.
  • Sara D’Hologne, Ivory Coast: An artist painter who is the head of SARTA, an artistic world dedicated to the house’s interior and exterior wall decoration. Sara is the torchbearer of natural hair in Ivory Coast, which she publicly advertises on her social media platforms.
  • Fatou Jupiter Touré, Senegal: An producer, actress entrepreneur, UN ambassador and founder of the Les Teranga film festival. Tropics, a South African magazine, has recognised her among the 700 most influential Africans for the second time. Fatou’s aptitude and enthusiasm for theatre and cinema enabled her to transform her passion into a career.
  • Senegalese fashion stylist, producer, and film director Ngorbatchev Niang. He runs “Ngorbatchev Maison de Couture” and “Ngorbatchev Nprod.” M. Niang is passionate about what makes life more beautiful, and he strives to express this beauty in his clothing lines, which he sells and promotes on Instagram and Facebook.

For the first time, the Creators of Tomorrow will be able to visit the EMEA Creator Week, which will be held in London at the historic Tate Britain in November 2022.

At all stages of their careers, other regional creators will join Creators of Tomorrow there to interact, learn from one another, and carry on to find inspiration in the future of content production on our platforms.
